Job Summary
An excellent senior opportunity for a dedicated professional
The Provincial Approving Officer (PAO) is a Statutory Decision Maker appointed under the Land Title Act, with delegated authority under other legislation, including the Transportation Act. This position works independently within quasi-judicial authority to review, analyze, and make decisions on applications to subdivide land in rural areas and with partial jurisdiction in municipal areas.
Job Requirements:
Education and Experience
  • University degree (ie. geography, planning, engineering, law, or related discipline) and three years related experience; OR
  • Applicable diploma (ie. geography, planning, engineering, law, natural resources, or related discipline) and four years related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.

Related experience includes a combination of any of the following
  • Experience reviewing development applications and or development planning.
  • Experience in reviewing and understanding legal documentation.
  • Experience in interpreting legislation, statutes, case law, and bylaws.

There are two (2) positions available: one (1) in Kamloops/Merritt and one (1) in Coquitlam/Chilliwack
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to 2 days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement
An eligibility list may be established to fill future permanent vacancies.
