Who we are?


La Fédération des coopératives du Nouveau-Québec is owned by its fourteen member co-ops in the Inuit communities of Nunavik. FCNQ was established in 1967 to provide the rapidly growing cooperative movement with more effective powers and services to help attain their vision “Atautsikut” Together—working to develop as a people, leaving none behind.


Responsibilities:


Under the supervision of the Purchasing Manager, the Store Assistant is the expert on in-stock products. He/She ensures that the presentation of products and related information contribute to creating an exceptional shopping experience for customers by carrying out the assembly and the dismantling of the displays according to the arrivals of goods, the volume of stocks, while respecting the standards established by the FCNQ.

  • Traveling for the boat (sealift);
  • Participate in the assembly and the layout of stores;
  • Ensure the maintenance of the guidelines relating to the standards of the image and the trends of the stores;
  • Ensure that product displays are designed for consumers, arranged in an attractive way and that they are "shoppable";
  • Be the expert on certain assigned areas of inventory, product placement, expiration dates, promotions, etc. ;
  • Ensure cleanliness and ease of shopping, so that products are accessible and customers can move easily through the aisles in collaboration with store staff;
  • Organize warehouse and store products by following the processes related to standards and procedures established for inventory management in collaboration with store staff;
  • Support Store Managers and Store Coordinators in maintaining quality and standards associated with perishable items, in accordance with store standards;
  • Ensure that the display creates the best desirable visual impact with shelf cards, then assist in their execution, including corporate markdowns and labels in collaboration with in-store staff;
  • Respect loss prevention policies and procedures, and ensure their execution in the store in collaboration with the store staff;
  • Make sure to keep his/her work area and the displays are in good condition and clean at all times;
  • Handle and use the equipment and materials required to perform work tasks safely;
  • Upon request, perform the cycle count and the annual physical inventory of the store with the accounting team;
  • Any other related tasks requested by Store Coordinators.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience, a college diploma (an asset);
  • Must be able to communicate, both orally and in writing, in two of the following languages: Inuktitut, French or English;
  • Good physical shape:
    • Ability to lift up to 30 to 50 lbs;
    • Ability to climb a ladder;
    • Ability to stand for several hours;
  • At ease with computers;
  • Team spirit and excellent interpersonal skills ;
  • Attention to details and extremely organized;
  • Flexibility to adapt to an ever-changing environment.

Note:

WORK CONDITIONS

Willing to travel north for long periods of time (190 and 200 days per year).
