What You Will Get To Do
Reporting to the Supervisor of Operations (Roads/Traffic), and under the direction of the Working Foreperson (Roads/Traffic), the Street Sweeper Operator is responsible for:
operating and maintaining the Street Sweeper while ensuring all streets/routes are thoroughly cleaned in order to achieve defined service levels;
operating and maintaining single and tandem axle vehicles, and accessory equipment when required;
proactively identifying and reporting road deficiencies;
accurately recording daily maintenance logs and all other applicable documentation;
operating all vehicles and/or equipment skilfully and safely;
involvement in winter snow operations, including snow removal, sanding/salting and/or ploughing of roads and sidewalks;
general labourer duties involved in roads and traffic maintenance; and,
miscellaneous duties as assigned.

What You Bring To Our Team
As the successful applicant, you must possess:
a secondary school graduation diploma;
a valid Class "DZ" Driver's Licence, maintained in good standing and qualify for the Town’s Safe Driver Program criteria;
a minimum of one (1) year demonstrated experience operating vehicles over 11,000 kg., G.V.W., including tandem axle trucks;
successful completion of Defensive Driving training;
a demonstrated ability to adhere to the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
the ability to operate various tools and equipment in a safe manner;
physically fit and capable of performing strenuous physical labour with heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.) in varying weather conditions; and
strong reasoning, technical and analytical skills to ensure work is completed safely and accurately.
What We Offer You
$29.38 - $36.74 per hour (Band F)

Union Affiliation: CUPE Full-Time
Hours: Flex hours, including days, afternoons and nights. Forty (40) hours per week. Shifts may be scheduled between the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 11:59 p.m., Sunday to Saturday. Flexible hours maybe required during winter control and/or emergency situations.
