Student Library Assistant

Northwestern Polytechnic (formerly GPRC) is a comprehensive community institution, established in 1966 in Grande Prairie. Our stewardship region includes campuses in Fairview and Grande Prairie. We offer a wide variety of credit and non-credit career certificates and diplomas, pre-employment and apprenticeship trades, university transfer studies, and several opportunities for on-campus degree completion through collaborations with four-year universities.

The Role

Fairview Learning Commons is looking for a Casual Student Library Assistant to work at the service desk in the Learning Commons. The incumbent will assist with patron questions in-person and via chat and perform assorted circulation duties. This is an on-campus casual position working approximately 17 hours per week requiring the incumbent to come into the Learning Commons typically for 4 hr. shifts between 4:00 pm and 8 pm Mondays through Thursdays, as well as 12:00-8:00 pm Sundays.

Student Rate as per AUPE Collective Agreement: $17.95/hour

• proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
• library and customer service experience is preferred;
• strong organizational and multi-tasking skills;
• excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and
• flexible schedule.
