TITLE: Student Life Officer

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Student Life Officer works to provide a holistic approach to identifying and addressing student needs on and off campus. The Student Life Officer, under the supervision of the VP of Operations, provides direction to the Alexander College Student Association and works to enhance student communications. The SLO works to ensure a positive culture of inclusivity and connection with all students and, where required, advocates for them. The nature of the position requires the ideal candidate to possess a passion for working with students in a post-secondary context and a strong understanding of the dynamics of an international student environment

WHO WE ARE: Alexander College is a private post-secondary institution serving approximately 4,000 students every year. Students choose to study at Alexander College to complete their Associate of Arts or Science degree or take a variety of University Transfer courses. We strive for excellence in higher education for students from many cultural backgrounds and language abilities by providing university transfer courses and degree programs, individual support services, and campus activities to foster local and global community engagement.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma required
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or some education at the postsecondary level
  • Minimum of 1 year of work experience in a promotional or marketing role, preferably within an educational setting
  • Strong proficiency in English;
  • Superior oral and written communication skills;
  • Works well both independently and in high-performance teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with Administrative Functions of the Student Life Unit
  • Assist with on- and off-site Alexander College events in terms of setup, preparation, and delivery.
  • Solicit feedback for subsequent terms’ activities and conduct surveys to this end
  • Create and lead regular student events on and off campus, including but not limited to multicultural, networking, and social events
  • Connect with other institutions to promote a connection between ACSA and other student associations
  • Oversee the Alumni Program, including outreach efforts, information gathering, and testimonials
  • Support the Athletics Program by coordinating events and activities and promoting athletic engagement
  • Develop and manage the Volunteering Program, connecting students with community service opportunities and fostering a culture of giving back
  • Prepare various reports and participate in college initiatives as presented by the administration
