Student, Operational Integration


Number of Positions: 1

Term: January 15, 2024 to April 26, 2024

Schedule: 15 hours per week

Location: Ottawa, HQ

Salary: $16.65 to $30.20/hourly rate dependent on level of education.

Language Requirement: English essential


  • Eligibility List: CATSA will use this opportunity to establish a list of candidates eligible to fill subsequent vacancies. The eligibility list may be used to staff other student positions with similar responsibilities and qualifications.

Summary of Responsibilities:


The Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) requires a motivated and innovative student to join the Operations Branch as a Student, Operational Integration. Reporting to the Manager, Operational Integration, you will assist in the team’s day-to-day project and administrative duties.

  • Assists in providing project administration support to the Operational Integration of technology or regulatory-related deployments.
  • Helps in carrying out research and analysis into operational issues and provides written and verbal assessments and recommendations for the consideration of management.
  • Assists in developing written and verbal status updates to contribute to the resolution of Operational Integration issues as required.
  • Participates in the review and drafting of standard operating procedures, bulletins, directives, and other publications for front-line audiences.
  • Provides input and support to project teams charged with exploring opportunities to improve operational efficiencies and ensure effective security.

What you need to succeed
To qualify for the position, you must have:

  • Enrolled in a university or college program relevant to the duties of the position (e.g., public or business administration, security and defence studies, commerce, project management, English, translation, linguistics, communication, criminology, political science, aviation, airport administration, Canadian studies, history, geography, philosophy, etc.).
  • Job-related experience and/or training preferred.
  • Experience preparing various documents (e.g., presentations, reports, summaries, etc.) and clearly and concisely communicating information and recommendations.
  • Be able to plan, organize and manage multiple tasks and projects with competing deadlines.
  • Be proficient in common software applications, (i.e., MS Office Suite) to draft documents and reports, prepare presentations, conduct analysis and perform research.
  • Experience working in teams.
  • Knowledge of project management principles.

Skills and abilities:

  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently, be a self starter, problem solve and multi-task.
  • Ability to prioritize, perform tasks with accuracy, be detail-oriented and meet deadlines.
  • Exercise mature judgment in working with confidential information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook).
  • Establish and maintain friendly, cooperative and effective working relationships with team members.

To qualify and to be considered for this employment, you must;

  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident;
  • Be eligible to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
  • Be a full-time or part-time CEGEP, college or university student; and
  • Be returning to full-time or part-time studies in the next academic year.
