Job description

Student Provincial Offences Officer

Under the general supervision of the Inspector of the Niagara Parks Police Service, a student Provincial Offences Officer will be required under established policies, procedures and guidelines, to direct vehicular and pedestrian traffic, provide general assistance to the visiting public, maintain safety perimeters for fireworks and other special events.

This position compensates in accordance with Ontario Minimum Wage Legislation.

The Niagara Parks Police Service will be hiring for several Student Provincial Offences Officers for the 2024 season. Applications for this position will be accepted until March 16, 2024.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of a High School Diploma Grade 12 or GED Equivalent, or in progress.
  • Must have a valid G2 Class Drivers License.
  • Must have standard First Aid with CPR-C.
  • Must be currently enrolled or planning to pursue Post-Secondary education in the Fall of 2024
  • Must be an active volunteer within the community.
  • Able to fulfill the physical requirements of the position.
  • Pass the performance-based interview.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Key Activities

  • Provides information to guests regarding all Niagara Falls Attractions and offers assistance, if required.
  • Controls the flow of vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
  • Enforces the parking regulations that are listed in the Niagara Parks Act.
  • Provides crowd control during public events by using securing perimeters ( i.e., firework displays).
  • Report all matters that require police intervention to the dispatcher immediately.
  • Keeps a daily log (a duty book), makes computer activity and general occurrence reports.
  • Submits lost and found articles and forms.
  • Operates the police radio communication system according to Niagara Parks’ policies and procedures.
  • Provides quality customer service that meets Niagara Parks’ standards.
  • Promotes a positive image of Niagara Parks’.
  • Complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, First Aid, and established policies and procedures.
  • As assigned.
