Under the direction of the Supervisor, Tobacco Enforcement the successful incumbents will:
- Attend local retailers/vendors with a Tobacco Enforcement Officer and attempt to purchase vapour products, tobacco cigarettes, or other tobacco products like dip, chew, cigars and cigarillos;
- Take detailed hand-written notes to document test shopping activities;
- Attend and speak at court hearings as required; and,
- Attend mandatory training.
- Possession of a current valid social insurance number;
- Must be a student between the ages of 15 and 17 years enrolled in a secondary school;
- Strong attention to detail and observation skills;
- Strong note taking and public speaking skills;
- Knowledgeable about tobacco and vapour products and the Smoke Free Ontario Act, 2017;
- Available to attend mandatory training;
- Available to work after school, evenings, weekends, and/or during school breaks;
- Available to work flexible hours with typical shifts 4 hours in length;
- Available to work between 8 to 16 hours per month; and,
- The ability to communicate (oral and written) in English, and any other language(s) is highly desirable.
