Description:

The Beach Staff will be responsible for the daily Customer Service and facility service requirements of the Beach Club and other owned amenities for the Summerside Residents Association (SSRA).

Reporting:

The Beach Staff reports to the General Manager of the SSRA, and will also take direction from the Parks Manager, and Shift Leads.

Duties:

The Beach Staff will be expected to consistently provide friendly and courteous Customer Service. They will be responsible for the following tasks. Extensive training will be provided to all employees as needed. Employees are then expected to perform their duties with minimal supervision. Note that tasks are subject to change based on the needs of the business.

  • Gatehouse and Rentals
  • Opening and closing the facility as required
  • Check in residents and their guests, making them feel welcome
  • Bag checks
  • Manage outdoor bookings and rental tent bookings
  • Check in/ check out rental equipment
  • Communicate with residents & guests regarding bookings and programs
  • Various other administrative functions including the handling of money
  • Boat Docks
  • Facilitate resident usage of non-motorized watercraft
  • Operate the motorized patrol boat as required (training will be provided)
  • Enforce rules and regulations
  • Patrol
  • Walk throughout the park, being proactively hospitable with residents
  • Look for safety hazards
  • Ensure beach, park, courts, play structures, BBQ pits, boats, and all other rental equipment are clean and in good condition
  • Clean dirty areas/ empty garbage cans
  • Enforce park rules
  • Maintenance
  • Basic maintenance and park upkeep tasks such as maintaining flower beds, raking, watering plants etc. as directed
  • Janitorial duties and housekeeping of the buildings and park
  • Weed removal from the lake
  • Concession
  • Understand, adhere to, and enforce all SSRA food safety handling processes
  • Act as a cashier, providing food items to customers
  • Inventory items, and re-stock as required
  • Safety
  • Understand and follow the SSRA safety regulations
  • Understand the rights and responsibilities of all employees under the SSRA safety policy
  • Ensure all Workplace Health and Safety requirements are met including the SSRA’s safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure safe work conditions exist at all times
  • Events/ Programs
  • Assist the Events and Programs Manager with special events as required

Shift Details:

There are full and part- time positions available.

Shift times will vary. Evening, weekend, and holiday shifts should be expected. However, successful candidates will be provided their schedule for the entire summer shortly after being hired.

In cases of extreme weather, shifts may also need to be changed or removed.

This is a seasonal summer position with the potential of additional employment after the summer months.

Pay:

$16.50- $17.25 per hour

Requirements:

  • Strong Customer Service acumen
  • Willingness to help others
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Capable of working outdoors for extended periods of time
  • Ability to enforce park rules appropriately
  • A police information check, including a vulnerable sector check, must be provided to the SSRA by any successful candidates
  • Candidates must be CPR and first aid certified. Being certified already is an asset, however the SSRA can help facilitate the acquisition of these certifications as needed with successful candidates.
