We are currently seeking a post-secondary student (preferably enrolled in Education or Library Sciences) with Leadership skills who has a love of reading and working with children to run the summer reading program in the Yellowknife Public Library. Please keep in mind the following requirements for this position with the Community Services Department:

  • Include the dates you are available to work. This position begins in the first week of May and does not end until approximately August 23, 2024. You must be available for the duration of the summer.
  • Strong computer skills are essential, as is a demonstrated ability in working with groups of children. A background in Library Sciences or Education programs will be considered an asset.
  • We are looking at expanding the reading program to more than one of the official languages of the NWT so highlight in your application if you are bilingual and in which languages.
  • You must have a satisfactory Criminal Records Check (vulnerable sector) completed prior to commencing work. You should keep in mind that this can take a couple of weeks to be processed.
