Nursing Students - Summer Opportunities
Greenwood Court, Tri-County Mennonite Homes
Stratford, ON

About Greenwood Court:
Greenwood Court is designed as a 'Community of Care' where seniors are able to age in place. As the needs of our seniors change, they have access to additional services and supports without having to leave familiar surroundings or newly developed friendships. Staff and volunteers are committed to making Greenwood Court "a place to call home" for its residents.
About the Position:
Under the supervision of the Registered Staff, you will provide basic care to maintain the physical, emotional, spiritual and social well-being of our residents.
Experience:


  • No experience needed – rather a desire and willingness to embrace new opportunities
  • Must be a willing to take initiative, be a self starter yet follow direction when required and work in a team environment.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary PSW, RPN or RN student returning to school in the fall
  • Comfortable working with elderly individuals
  • Responsible and punctual individual
  • Good communication skills (able to read and write in the English language)
  • Available to work some evenings and weekends when required

Summer Opportunities generally start in May and end at the beginning of September. These jobs may be funded by the Government of Canada's Student Work Placement Program (SWPP) or Canada Summer Jobs. In order to be considered for the Canada Summer Jobs Program, you must:

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or a protected person defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
  • Be between 15-30 years of age at beginning of employment period
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial legislation and regulations
  • If you do not meet the above criteria you can still apply as we may have opportunities available over and above the SWPP.

New employees will be required to complete a vulnerable sector check (or sign a declaration if under 18 years of age) and TB test as part of the onboarding process.
