Cultural Festivals encompasses the Blenders Music Series and Long Days Night Music Festival as well as SaskPower Windscape Kite Festival.
The Windscape Kite Festival is a two-day, family festival that features childrens activities, kite performers in SW Swift Current. The Long Days Night Music Festival takes place over 4 nights alongside the kite festival, offering a diverse selection of Canadian music.
The Student Event Coordinator will provide organizational assistance for both festivals under the direction of the Festival Organizers. The main tasks include operations management, various administrative duties such as laminating, document writing, promotional distribution, cataloging supplies, etc., volunteer recruitment, and entire festival site set-up and tear down as well as infrastructure preparations including working with a team to erect large tents, build fences, and paint. It also includes offering kite-building workshops to young students as well as involvement in various community events. The position may also provide support in marketing and promotion of the events through social media management, website updates, press releases, etc.
Qualifications:
-Outstanding customer service
-Must be reliable, flexible, responsible, personable, and tactful
-Must be able to do manual labour, lift up to 30 pounds and be on your feet for long periods
-Experience using common hand tools and light equipment
-Ability to anticipate project needs & meet deadline
-Excellent communication skills
-Ability to manage multiple projects & work independently or as part of a team
-Flexibility for a varied work schedule; evening & weekend work is sometimes required
-Must be available June 12 - 26
