SUMMER STUDENT

About Us:

Alberta Recycling Management Authority (ARMA) is a dedicated not-for-profit organization that acts on behalf of the province to oversee all aspects of end-of-life processing of electronics, paint, tires and used oil materials. Since its inception in 1992, ARMA has led the diversion of 11.6 million electronic devices, 33.9 million liters of paint, 144.5 million tires, and over 2.0 billion liters of used oil from the province’s landfills.

Most recently, thanks to the organization’s innovation and environmental stewardship, ARMA was appointed as the administration and oversight body for Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). During this transformative time, this role will allow ARMA to continue its work to inspire a future without waste, where products enter the circular economy for the betterment of our environment and future.

If you possess an inherent builder mindset, are passionate about inspiring a future without waste, having fun, embracing change, and pursuing growth we would love to hear from you. Please apply in confidence to Human Resources by emailing your resume to careers@albertarecycling.ca.

We are committed to supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in our recruitment processes and in our work environment, where every individual feels valued, respected and has a sense of belonging.

We would like to thank everyone for their application and interest in ARMA; however, only those being considered for an interview will be contacted. Posting will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.

By submitting your resume and personal information to ARMA, and/or participating in a personal interview, you acknowledge and consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information by ARMA to determine your suitability for employment opportunities. Successful applicants will be required to complete a criminal background check.

Position Summary:

As a Summer Student, you will have the opportunity to learn from and support ARMA’s mandate. This position spans approximately 4 months, from the beginning of May to the end of August.

Students will have the opportunity to work with all ARMA teams, including Stewardship, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), Finance, Registration, etc. However, the students’ time will primarily focus on working with the Field Services Team; you will actively participate in regular site visits at collection and processor sites registered with the electronics, paint, tires, and used oil material recycling programs to ensure compliance with ARMA's requirements. Moreover, you will join the Field Services team in organizing and executing various collection events during the summer months, which play a crucial role in enhancing program material capture rates and promoting awareness of ARMA's initiatives. Given the diverse locations of inspection sites across Alberta, this role primarily entails fieldwork, necessitating a significant amount of travel time, approximately 2-3 days per week.
