Title : Summer Students - E-Helper for Communication Therapy

Start Date: April 29, 2024

End Date: June 28, 2024

Position Type: Temporary

Position Open To: Students enrolled in a post-secondary education program for the 2024-2025 school year

Posting Overview:

Reporting to the Supervisor of School Based Clinical and Therapy Services, this position will support students accessing language therapy via tele-health services in the elementary schools. Responsibilities include:

  • Confirming attendance of students ahead of time with virtual therapist and arrange scheduling changes if possible;
  • Ensuring computer equipment and platform are working properly, finding an ideal location in the schools and position webcam before sessions begin;
  • Collecting students from classrooms for their appointment times;
  • Solving any technical problems within the virtual meeting;
  • Redirecting students to remain on task during appointments;
  • Working cooperatively with school staff and virtual therapist;
  • Recording the number of sessions completed per day;
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor of School Based Clinical and Therapy Services;
  • Positions are mostly south and centrally based within the district.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Must be enrolled in a post-secondary education program for the 2024-2025 school year;
  • Communication Sciences and Disorders, Health Care Rehabilitation Services, Education, Early Childhood Education, Developmental Service Worker, and Personal Support Worker programs preferred.

Other Key Skills & Knowledge :

  • Possess a valid G class driver's license and have access to transportation as daily travel will be required;
  • Ability to work as a team member with minimum supervision.

Position Effective Date & Length:

Four positions pending funding.

April 29, 2024 - June 28, 2024 (Monday-Friday, 35 hours/week)

Rate of pay: $17.05/hour
