Summer Youth Leader

Our summer programs focus on offering engaging activities, mentorship, and personal development opportunities to empower youth and foster positive relationships within the community.

Job Description:
As a Summer Youth Leader, you will:

• Plan and Facilitate Engaging Activities: Assist in the implementation and organization and lead engaging activities for youths aged 5 to 18 during the summer months.
• Youth Mentoring: Provide mentorship and guidance to promote positive development and personal growth.
• Community Engagement: Establish positive connections within the community and collaborate with local organizations to enhance program offerings.
• Program Supervision: Oversee the youth programs running from 7 am -9 pm Monday through Friday, excluding Stat Holidays, ensuring a safe and supportive environment.
• Programs run: Summer Programs 7 am to 4 pm for Summer Camp for ages 5-14; supplemented by Afternoon Programs 4 pm-6 pm for ages 5-14, and rotating Evening Programs for ages 10-18 from 6 pm- 10 pm.
• Inclusivity and Diversity: Foster an inclusive environment that respects and celebrates diversity among participants.
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of program activities and participant progress, providing feedback for program improvement.
• Professional Development: Stay informed about best practices in youth development and actively seek opportunities for personal and professional growth.

Required:

• Be over the age of 18
• Speak fluent English
• Be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
• Experience leading programs with children
• Valid Standard First Aid Certificate
• Valid Police Security and Child Welfare Check--> See notes below on important information
• Valid Driver’s License (Class 4 or equivalent is an asset)
• Access to a vehicle (will be compensated 0.51 cents/kilometer)
• Ability to provide a clean Driving Abstract

Period of Employment

The period of employment for this position will July 2nd, 2024 to August 30th, 2024.

With Training Commencing June 17th to the 25th.

Important Note:
This position is a full-time, 3-month contract specifically for the summer months.

Programs run from 7am-9 pm Monday through Friday every day in the summer, excluding Stat Holidays.

• Youth Intervention check
• All job contracts are subject to the successful completion of these checks.
