This challenging and rewarding role requires an individual to supervise a range of court programs, services, and operational functions within the Rainy River District. You will manage the provision of services, facilitate the enforcement of court decisions, ensure the proper administration of court documents, and provide technical advice to staff and justice participants.

This dynamic frontline essential role thrives on your physical presence at the office. The Supervisor of Court Operations is expected to be on-site 5 days a week at Fort Frances Courthouse.

Successful candidates would be part of the Northwest Regional Management team led by Jenn Rob. Jenn is described as a leader with humanistic and operational expertise, that is approachable, inclusive, and people-focused. She is passionate about the administration of justice, particularly in northern Ontario. She commenced her career in the OPS 20 years ago and prides herself on developing and coaching staff and building strong relationships. Deliver on Business Goals and Priorities
Your leadership will be crucial in guiding the team towards the achievement of its business goals. It will be your responsibility to inspire and motivate your team to deliver their best performance and align the team's daily actions with the strategic vision of the ministry. You will contribute to the achievement of team goals by:
• Working as a member of the local management team in a fast-paced, high volume area, you will utilize your leadership skills to supervise and support staff, provide guidance and coaching as needed, schedule, assign and review work, monitor progress and evaluate performance, flagging performance issues to the Manager, Court Operations. Above all, you will be communicating values and expectations, to promote an engaged and inclusive team.
• As Supervisor, Court Operations you will be tasked with resolving operational and client issues to ensure that solutions comply with legislation, regulations, collective agreements, policies and procedures. You will utilize your strong knowledge of court services to provide technical and procedural advice to staff.
• Modernization and improved services are a priority of the Court Services Division, and we will rely on you to monitor service quality, identify opportunities to improve processes, develop recommendations for senior management and assist in implementing approved changes, all in accordance with the divisional operational plans.

How do I qualify?

Management and Leadership Skills

• You have demonstrated experience providing guidance to a team by communicating values, strategies, goals and objectives.
• You can ensure that organizational standards and operational goals are met.
• You have knowledge of human resources practices, principles, and policies including recruitment, training and development, labour relations, performance evaluation.

Technical Knowledge

• You have the ability to interpret and apply knowledge of relevant collective agreements, legislation, rules, policies and procedures of the courts to plan and deliver operational and administrative services to the courts and provide direction to staff.
• You have demonstrated knowledge of financial and administrative procedures to develop annual budgets, manage assets, and contract service providers.

Analytical and Planning Skills

• You can identify possible new initiatives and provide input to divisional and regional business planning processes
• You can analyze operational statistics, processes, trends, and issues, to identify opportunities for and recommend improvements to business processes
• You can implement approved process changes and investigate and resolve service issues.
• You can plan, organize and manage the administration and operation of court offices within an assigned area to ensure compliance with legislation/corporate policy and meet service quality standards.
• You will support the planning, coordination and implementation of contingency plans to ensure the continuation of court services.

Communication and Relationship Management Skills

• You are able to provide information and advice to members of the legal profession, justice participants, internal stakeholders, and members of the public.
• You can use your tact, discretion and political acuity to deal effectively with people in sensitive or stressful situations.
• You can work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure coordination of services to the courts and exceptional service is provided to the public.
• You can prepare briefing notes on local operational issues, and business cases/reports to support recommendations for changes to processes and service delivery.
