Job Description:
The Supervisor – Day Shift works alongside the Production Manager to ensure efficient day-to-day operations of the manufacturing departments. As a strong communicator the main role of the Supervisor - is to lead the day shift production team in the most effective way, ensuring our ability to meet customer demands and expectations.
Skilled in manufacturing best practices, the Supervisor - supports the supervision of day shift production employees and their daily tasks. Along with a team, the Supervisor - will begin each workday prior to the start of the regular shift. This position ensures all stations have the required materials and that the machine operations are set up in the most efficient and effective way possible.
The Supervisor - will work with a team to adjust daily plans and oversees the day-to-day implementation of the Quality and Health and Safety programs within departments. A priority for this role is to continue to cultivate a positive work environment while also ensuring the production team meets daily production targets.
Other responsibilities include:
· Proven ability to lead and follow lean manufacturing practices.
· Supervises staff to produce daily targets and manages workflow for setup optimizations
· Completes production plan by assigning team members to
· Strong ability to pivot with daily production schedule and meet end of week and month targets
· Trains new production staff
· Manages skill matrix and training schedule for employees reporting updates to Quality
· Strong ability in managing people, meeting daily and weekly production targets.
· Leads process improvements and helps ensure production outputs are met.
· Experience working in ERP systems with Advanced Manufacturing programs
· Ensures all employee stations are supplied with required materials for daily production needs: raw materials. kits, paper.
· Identifies and prepares materials allocated for production in advance of daily priorities for maximum efficiencies and outputs.
· Responsible for communicating daily production targets among team members.
· Communicate daily production output back to management.
· Ensures that all Quality, and Health and Safety programs are followed.
· Ensures each department is prioritizing organization and cleanliness.
· Conducts performance reviews.
· Focuses on continuous improvement while maximizing productivity.
· Reduces waste and inefficiencies with machines and people processes.
· Participates in daily shift change conversation and attend weekly production meetings
· Leads overtime shifts as required
· Understands production priorities and updates production tracking against daily targets.
Qualification, Skills and Experiences
· Minimum of 3 years of previous lead hand experience
· Minimum of 5 years working in other manufacturing environments in a leadership role
· Must be reliable and punctual.
· Forklift License an asset.
· Safety focus
· Ability to lift loads of up to 50 lbs.
· Experience with Lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvements.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
· Superior time management and organization skills.
· Detail oriented, and ability to make decisions.
· Strong communication and ability to work with teams on problem-solving skills.
· Proven ability to use Word, Excel, Outlook, and Google sheets.
· Experience with ERP systems
· Proven hands-on experience working with machinery.
· Mechanically inclined.
· Good ability and knowledge of computers and technology.
· Ability to act competently in emergencies.
· Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, and daily production targets.
· Certified in Production controls, certified manufacturing specialist
· Six sigma or kaizen certification an asset
· OSHA Safety certification an asset
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $28.00-$30.00 per hour
