Supervisor - Digital Applications (Application Management Team Lead)

Reporting to the Applications Manager, the Supervisor plans, coordinates and supervises all activities related to Application Management for a portfolio of business products. The responsibilities include people management for a team of technical resources and management of specific initiatives. The Supervisor works closely with both technical and business resources while understanding AFSC's Strategic Plan and digital ambition.

AFSC is on a modernization journey, and this role will play a big part in not only supporting existing applications but also determining the plans for the future. To be successful in this role you will have a background in technology, specifically Application management, and the experience and desire to guide others in their career growth.

What will you be responsible for?

• Make authoritative recommendations that have a significant impact on the business over the short and long term. Recommendations could be technical or professional in nature.
• Coordinate various projects and effectively contribute to the implementation of software solutions. Responsible for development, maintenance and operational success of relevant applications and technologies.
• Anticipate, manage and resolve issues and act as the point of contact and escalation for the team.
• Communicate the actions needed to implement the initiatives strategy and business plan within the team; explain the relationship to the broader organization's strategic plan and values; motivate people to commit to these and to doing extraordinary things to achieve local business goals.
• Manage and report on the performance of a substantial, diverse team; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports or project / account team members and hold them accountable for achieving these; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of team / personal objectives.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders, understand the business's expectations, being focused on enabling the business and team to be successful. Interacting closely with projects and operational activities, ensuring that dependencies and relationships are communicated and managed.
• Seek, launch and implement value added initiatives to help meet corporate strategic, tactical, and performance goals.
• Contribute operational information and recommendations to the Digital Services Leadership Team for strategic and tactical planning.

Qualifications:

• Diploma or University degree with a focus on technology, (Computer Science or related field), with 3-5 years of related experience
• 3 years of leadership experience (informal or formal)
• Applicants with technical knowledge preferred
