What You'll Do
Reporting to the Manager, Freight Audit Supervisor will be a key resource, an innovator and a leader in all facets of Freight Audit. This role is responsible for leading a team of Freight Payables professionals who are responsible to analyze, investigate and resolve billing errors and disputes for Freight invoices. The Supervisor must have an understanding of the complex methods CTC uses to move freight which includes multi-leg trips with multiple modes (Ocean, Rail, Drayage, Truck, Courier etc.) and the multiple systems used (JDA, PeopleSoft etc.). Understanding the connections, interfacing rules and exceptions between these systems is critical. When there are invoices errors, the Supervisor must work with multiple teams such as Non-Merch Procurement, Contract Oversight, Rate Analysts, Carriers Planners and the Carriers themselves to resolve discrepancies such as missing rates, incorrect rates, missing lanes, uncontracted charges.
This role will also be responsible for supporting the implementation of the Oracle Transportation System which is a multi-year project which will completely transform the current state of Transportation. You will be a strong influencer of change and be able to work collaboratively to drive change. This role must develop a deep understanding of current state processes and understand how they will translate with the new technology. This role will become the SME in Finance Shared Services on OTM and will liaise between Transportation, Finance Systems and Accounting.
  • Lead a team of Freight Audit professionals to ensure accurate payment of Freight billings for CTR and eventually enterprise wide.
  • Be the SME and technical expert of the Oracle Transportation Management system and any legacy Freight systems. Provide training to members of the Freight Audit team and upstream business teams as required.
  • Serve as an escalation point for carriers who are high-risk or complex. Ensure risk of shipment stoppage is mitigated.
  • Complete month end accruals, support month end analysis and commentaries by FP&A for senior management review.
  • Hold regular meetings and build relationships with Transportation, Contract Oversight, Non-Merch Procurement, Rate Analyst, and Courier Analyst stakeholders to ensure contractual issues are being resolved, efficiencies are being built into current processes. Keep abreast of upstream changes in the business which will impact carrier payments. (i.e. New methods of moving merchandise, usage of 3PL etc.)
  • Act as a primary point of contact for internal/external stakeholders for on-going management of all activities involving our 3rd party audit issue solution. In support of on-going changes with business needs, work with the Transportation group to develop/test new business rules, update reporting and address system/data issues as required.
  • Support the requirements, design, testing, documentation and implementation of OTM. Provide feedback to the OTM team for any current day scenarios, issues, pain points that need to be managed in OTM. Ensure OTM is capable of handling future state requirements like mixed banner loads and mixed banner DCs.
  • Write detailed functional specifications and other project related documentation including procedural documents, flow diagrams, job guides, system functional documents and training and testing tools.
  • Troubleshoot related system issues and business rules exceptions, finding trends and suggesting permanent fixes.
  • Define post-automation KPIs, design and implement periodic review of the KPIs.
  • Support FSS Supervisor on Duty program by performing on a rotational basis tasks for all Financial Shared services.
What You Bring
  • A University degree in a relevant discipline such as Business Administration, Engineering, Math Finance or IT.
  • Proven analytical, diagnostic, problem solving, project and change management skills
  • Strong written, spoken communication and presentation skills, superior interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow through to resolve issues
  • Mindset to continuously look for improvement opportunities and creative thinking capability to drive solutions beyond boundaries of existing company practices
  • Able to work with minimal supervision in sometimes a very ambiguous work environment and work well under pressure with tight time constraints in a dynamic and everchanging work environment
  • Exceptional time management skills and the ability to work in a high-volume, complex environment
  • Good communication skills with internal parties (Transportation, Procurement, IT, Audit) and Carriers
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Access,
  • Working knowledge of JDA-Transport and PeopleSoft, or Oracle Transportation Management system would be an asset.
  • Experience in Corporate Retail, Supply Chain or Transportation would be an asset
