JOB SUMMARY
The Supervisor, Rate Application Accounting is a professional accountant, responsible for conducting and supporting Rate Application studies, completing relevant exhibits and providing accounting support to the Manager, Rates and Revenue. The Supervisor, Rate Application Account will provide analysis on financial and non-financial data to support cost allocation, rate design and other Rate Application studies, reports and exhibits. In addition, this position will provide advice and direction to internal stakeholders and staff on Rate Application exhibit preparation, data preparation, and financial reporting matters.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead completion of Hydro Ottawa’s Lead-Lag Study, completion of relevant analysis and Rate Application Exhibit.
Collaborate with the Manager, Rates and Revenue in the completion of a cost allocation study, including updating cost drivers and rate design and completion of associated exhibit.
Prepare, complete, accurately and timely other Rate Application exhibits.
Keep abreast of and assess the impact of regulatory developments, including policy change, filing requirement changes and Ontario Energy Board (OEB) decisions that impact Rate Application completion and strategy.
Communicate regulatory development impacts to internal stakeholders.
Prepare periodic reports and presentations as required by the Manager, Rates and Revenue for presentation to Senior Management and/or external stakeholders.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to prepare financial analysis to support Rate Application exhibit preparation.
Apply knowledge of rates and revenue reporting requirements to advise management and peers as appropriate.
Maintain current knowledge of accounting principles and advise management and peers of changes, as appropriate.
Assist with developing business processes to ensure efficiency and proper controls over Rate Application preparation.
Provide support to the Manager, Rates and Revenue in completing annual Rate Application and OEB annual report.
Understand and apply all corporate policies and procedures as they relate to the position.
Supervise employee(s), including directing the work and managing performance.
Perform other related duties as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Professional accounting designation (CPA) required
Minimum five (5) years’ financial or regulatory reporting experience
Minimum five (5) years’ data analytics and reporting experience and demonstrated experience working with high volumes of data
Experience and formal related training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements
Demonstrated experience applying financial procedures
Strong computer skills, proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite of products
Knowledge of and experience with ERP systems and data analytics software considered an asset
Utility financial and regulatory accounting experience is considered an asset
Understanding of Ontario Energy Board (OEB) Rate Application process and filing requirements considered an asset
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
English language essential, both oral and written; Bilingual (French/English) considered an asset
This is a management group opportunity and salary will be commensurate with qualifications.
