Position Title: Supply & Trading Advisor, Business Development

Team and Location: Supply, Trading, & Refining - Calgary, AB

Salary: $101,800/Year

Position Summary:

As a key member of the Business Development team, the Supply & Trading Advisor ("STA") provides financial and commercial analysis to support front end deal evaluations and project execution activities. The STA will work closely with the Supply/Trading team and various teams within Parkland to progress, execute, and commission opportunities across the refined products, NGLs, renewables, and crude desks. The SAT will also support strategy formation and acquisition investment recommendations as it pertains to commercial opportunities within the Supply/Trading team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform project execution activities including:
    • Conceptualize projects, and lead them through to the execution stage.
    • Financial modelling.
    • Capital/expenditure and project tracking.
    • Monitoring project schedules and related tasks to ensure on-time completion.
    • Daily market analysis as it pertains to the Supply/Trading team.
    • Liaison between the various Parkland business units.
  • Conduct research and analysis into a variety of Business Development initiatives including, new activities, new markets/commodities that lead to strategic Supply/Trading opportunities.
  • Coordinates strategic planning and assess business environment for areas of opportunity within the Supply/Trading team.
  • Prepares investment recommendation materials for transaction approval by Parkland's Senior Leadership Team.
  • Complete valuations of Business Development initiatives by applying business valuation principles and practices.
  • Support the Parkland Supply/Trading teams on broader corporate initiatives and Senior Leadership updates.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced financial modeling and economic evaluation skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS PowerPoint.
  • Exceptionally high level of focus on quality of work and attention to detail.
  • Proven record of project management and execution.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong team orientation balanced with the ability to work autonomously on projects and initiatives.
  • Five to seven years of relevant work experience in the energy industry related to refined products, renewables, crude oil, and NGL.
  • Previous experience in a supply and trading environment would be considered an asset.
