As a 32 year old male with cerebral palsy, I am looking for the services of a reliable, mature, Support Worker.

Using a manual wheelchair for mobility, as well as being completely verbal, I direct my own self-care and manage my own activities of daily living. I reside independently in an assisted living environment in Welland, Ontario.

I am currently seeking the assistance of a Support Worker to accommodate me with some of the activities listed here: shopping, swimming, baking, arts and crafts, concerts, bowling, walks, games, etc. and occasional personal care.

Also required would be providing my personal care in the mornings (shower, dressing) during holiday weekends when visiting at my parents‘ accessible home in Fonthill.

The qualities and skills I am looking for from a Support Worker were for you to be: PUNCTUAL, Organized, Patient with strong communication AND listening skills, plus a good sense of humour and an enjoyment of music.

Along with having the physical ability to perform occasional one person transfers and knowledge about accessing community facilities and services, you would also be required to be in possession of a current valid FIRST AID CERTIFICATE , a current valid CPR CERTIFICATE, a current valid VULNERABLE SECTOR POLICE CHECK CERTIFICATE, a cell phone, and proof of your own private Support Worker insurance.

Familiarity with inter-municipal transportation within the Niagara Peninsula would be an asset, along with knowledge of accessible public transportation and Niagara Specialized Transit.

Work/Volunteer Experience

Two years experience or equivalent as either a: personal Support Worker, developmental services worker, recreational therapist or an educational assistant.

Education

A secondary school diploma along with a good understanding of the English language would be required.

$25 per hour
