Job description

Harvest Operations Corp. is a diverse energy company based out of Calgary offering exposure to conventional upstream oil and natural gas production and SAGD operations. We are focused on identifying opportunities to create and deliver value with an active development program and a technical approach taken to maximize our assets.

Harvest has an immediate opening for a Surface Landman/Indigenous Relations reporting to the Team Lead, Land. This is a permanent full-time position based in Calgary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure all freehold and crown surface access acquisition requirements are met in a

timely and cost effective manner and always in 100% compliance with the regulatory

directives and legislative acts of British Columbia and Alberta;

  • Able to handle multiple tasks and efficiently prioritize work initiatives to meet deadlines;
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret and analyze agreements and

documentation;

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, teamwork and problem solving skills;
  • Direct and monitor the required activities of survey companies and land brokerage firms

to ensure they are operating in a timely and cost effective manner;

  • Responsible for First Nations consultation and notification as it relates to Crown

Traditional Land Use government protocol;

  • Work closely in a team environment with Surface Land Administration personnel to

ensure the accuracy of D56 and OGAA consultation and notification information letters

and that they meet regulatory requirements;

  • Oversee and ensure the accuracy of information being forwarded to the licensing and

construction departments;

  • Strong understanding of land values and pattern of dealings in your area of responsibility

in order to determine appropriate compensation;

  • Manage the annual compensation review process and ensure reviews are completed in

a timely manner;

  • Prepare and provide information attend and give evidence if required at Hearings (AER,

LPRT, BCER etc.);

  • Complete all ACO or BCER related consultation action items and activities
  • Complete tracking and reporting of Indigenous issues or concerns
  • Develop and maintain community relations budget and schedule for areas where Harvest Operates
  • Provide guidance to Harvest SCM Personnel regarding Indigenous vendor inclusion
  • Negotiate new agreements with Indigenous communities as required to fulfill corporate priorities
  • Complete required data input into applicable Land systems

Qualifications

  • Valid Land Agent License (Alberta)
  • Valid Commissioner for Oaths (Alberta)
  • Valid Alberta Driver’s License
  • University Degree (or equivalent post-secondary education)
  • 10-15 years of Upstream Oil & Gas industry experience (including both field and in-house experience).
  • Member of Land Organization such as CALEP
  • Working competency with various in-house software such as: Pandell, CS Explorer, Geoscout, Abadata, Open Invoice, Qbyte, Etc.
