Job description

QCL is a Luxury Fishing Resort set in a protected harbor at the northern end of Haida Gwaii. We pride ourselves in the comfort, friendliness, and platinum standard services we provide, and are interested in crew that share this paradigm. Our summer season begins late May, running until mid-September.

All crew are provided with pre/post season return travel from Vancouver to Haida Gwaii, meals, a staff lounge and gym facility, shared accommodations, quality uniforms and the opportunity to fish throughout the season.

Our Back of House crew possess a strong culinary background and take pride in adding tremendously to the guests’ first class experience. Through detailed preparation and effective communication, our culinary team consists of skilled, adaptable, and dependable individuals. Your experience, drive and personality will guide you and our Executive Chef to determine the correct fit within our culinary brigade. Compensation to be determined by role, responsibilities, experience, and education.

SUSHI + TEPPANYAKI CHEF

Responsible for executing both the Sushi and Teppanyaki programs at QCL, our chef is passionate, technical and dedicated to a first-class dining experience.

5+ years of experience in a similar role is required

Applicants should have a broad culinary base, experience with West Coast cuisine and ingredients and pan-Asian and French foundations.

All Role Requirements

  • Relocating to QCL (Spring-Fall) position based in Haida Gwaii
  • Line work experience in a high-volume environment is an asset
  • Previous resort experience is considered an asset
  • Food Safe Level 1 is required
  • Red Seal certification is considered an asset
  • First Aid certificate is considered an asset
  • Serving it Right is considered an asset
  • Ability to carry moderate-heavy loads, bend/kneel easily, and withstand being on your feet for the entirety of each shift
  • Solid interpersonal skills allowing one to work effectively in a diverse and dynamic setting
  • Desire to learn and provide a first-class guest experience
  • Passion for the west coast and interest in the adventures that come along with working/living in a remote lodge environment
