Sweeper Operator - Highway Maintenance - Class 3

We are currently seeking a Sweeper Operator for our Maintenance Division based out of Calgary, AB. This is a seasonal position that works Sunday night to Thursday night, with a schedule of 8PM to 5:30AM. The position has an end of October 31, 2024.

What is the role?

The Sweeper Operator will be responsible for operating the Street Sweeper along Deerfoot Trail.

Responsibilities include:

• Operating specialized vehicles; including Street Sweepers
• Fill the Street Sweeper's water tanks and operate rotary brushes and water spray controls
• Exercise caution when operating in confined spaces and congested streets
• Clean garbage, debris, and contaminates from streets and curbs
• Maintain street sweeper vehicles and equipment by performing standard checks
• Reports any incidents or mechanical failures to management
• Ensures timely accurate communication of all information and completion of all required documentation in relation to street sweeper logs
• Deals with the public in a courteous professional manner
• Complies with and contributes to the improvement of the CMSL Quality and Environmental Management Systems
• Participates in training and is deemed competent to operate required equipment
• Operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner; identifies maintenance required
• Other duties as required

What do we value?

• Class 3 driver’s license with a clean driver's abstract
• Advanced proficiency in operating specialized vehicle and equipment
• Working knowledge of vehicle and standard equipment maintenance is preferred
• Extensive experience in performing street sweeping operations
• Ability to work continuously in all weather conditions
• Ability to work in a team as well as independently, and with minimal supervision
