As a Talent and Succession Partner on the Talent and Leadership team at National Bank, you will maintain alignment with stakeholders and remind managers of the importance of serving as ambassadors for engaged, diversified talent in order to promote career development. As Talent Lead, you will demonstrate leadership in the Talent and career management process. Your expertise and agility will enable you to provide clear, relevant information to stakeholders while highlighting career experiences and planned mobility for successor pool. You will help ensure the Bank remains a career destination of choice.

Your job :

Given the cultural evolution, the importance of diversifying our talents, the shift to competencies-based management and the rollout of a new IT platform, the main responsibilities of this role involve:

  • Rolling out a Bank-wide talent development strategy and leadership aligned with the organization’s business priorities
  • Clearly communicating the alignment of the Bank’s talent process to business partners, while helping managers incorporate the Talent Roundtable exercise into their annual management cycle and understand its business value
  • Demonstrating strong leadership to influence stakeholders in a matrix-based environment. Advising, persuading and collaborating with various stakeholders in order to understand current needs, anticipate future talent needs and operationalize customized strategies that will mitigate risk and mobilize talent
  • Assessing cross-sector impacts, solving problems and collaborating on the implementation of lasting solutions for the organization. Promote ongoing conversations to identify talent, target workforce risks, prepare for the implementation of action plans including development opportunities and foster career mobility. Be on the lookout for leadership needs, recommend and issue guidelines on the paths offered in connection with the Talent Tables in support of business needs.
  • Understanding the realities faced by managers and the Employee Experience partners in their business sectors when the process is rolled out. Providing specialized advice by listening to stakeholders' experiences and being agile in responding to them
  • Keeping abreast of innovative approaches while maintaining existing processes; adding value by seeking out opportunities to minimize risk management for the pool, retain high performers, promote internal mobility and engage successors in their career advancement and development. Maximize the added value of the courses offered, ensure business value in the learners' experience in terms of their development.
  • Endorsing Bank-wide strategic initiatives (e.g., shift to competencies-based management, LXP), anticipating the long-term repercussions and preparing stakeholders for change. Fostering new approaches to achieve pool-based objectives and highlight potential while promoting initiatives that reinforce internal mobility and the cross-sector competencies that are essential to the Bank’s success
  • Analyzing data and tracking key indicators linked to the pool of successors, critical professions, critical target audiences, the diversification of our talent pool, talent development and the engagement of team members to ensure diversified, inclusive experiences

Your team

As part of the Employee Experience sector, you’ll work on a team of four colleagues and will report to the Senior Manager. Our team is central to the Bank’s cultural shift and is dedicated to promoting solutions that aim to offer a positive experience for successors and prepare them for tomorrow’s business needs, while developing Talent and helping create the most stimulating workplace in the country.

Prerequisites

  • Experience in project management and ability to manage deliverables with various due dates
  • Ability to manage schedules, anticipate issues, propose ways to mitigate risks and ensure ongoing communication about the process being delivered
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and create powerful, concise presentations for target audiences while demonstrating mastery of the practice
  • Strong change management skills and ability to manage stakeholder expectations
  • Good vision and understanding of issues faced by the organization and strong capacity to deal with uncertainty; ability to strike a balance between staying the course and being agile when needed
  • Intellectual rigour and analytical skills
  • Strong emotional intelligence, ability to consider others’ points of view while showing strength of character (humility, justice, influence, good judgment)
  • Must have experience in facilitation, giving major presentations, developing team leadership, team consolidation and/or providing strategic support to leadership teams
  • Must have obtained recognized certifications in leadership development, coaching and team development, or be in the process of obtaining them
