Brewed in the north for the north, our goal is to produce a well-crafted responsibly produced product, with an emphasis on supporting the local economy. Located in Iqaluit Nunavut, Nunavut Brewing Company (NuBrew) is the northernmost brewery in Canada. We opened the brewery and taproom in August of 2018 and developed a reputation for brewing a great product served by welcoming and engaging staff. We are now looking for a creative and enthusiastic team member to join our team and help us grow!

As a member of our small but versatile team, you will take lead fostering an inclusive and inviting atmosphere in our taproom through engaging events and customer service. The Taproom and Event Manager will also play a lead role in development and execution of our social media and community presence. Our ideal candidate has prior experience in the service industry, a keen attention to detail and strong communication skills to best represent our brand and values within the local community. A passion for craft beer will also be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

Taproom Management

  • Ensure the taproom environment is enjoyable and inclusive so our customers have a positive experience.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures, including restocking of merchandise, cleaning, updating menu boards, handling cash, and sales reporting.
  • Planning and scheduling of taproom staffing in line with expected demand.
  • Replacing empty kegs with new products as needed.
  • Creating new opportunities to enhance the customer experience when visiting NuBrew.
  • Perform other assigned office and productions tasks as assigned by the General Manager and agreed upon by the Employee.

Event Coordination

  • Plan and coordinate engaging events at the brewery with the goal of reaching new customers and increasing taproom traffic.
  • Coordinate requests for rental space, including the submission of extension of hours requests with the Nunavut Liquor and Cannabis Board.
  • Oversee events including problem solving, set-up, scheduling food/musicians and ensuring staff are ready and knowledgeable.
  • Ensure both internal and external event calendars are up to date to keep staff and management informed on upcoming events and rentals.
  • Work with General Manager to plan and execute social media and e-mail campaigns raising awareness of our brand and any planned events.

Social Media Coordination

  • Develop, implement, and manage NBCL’s social media strategy in coordination with the General Manager and other team members.
  • Plan execute and monitor social media and email campaigns to raise awareness of our brand our products and any planned events.
  • Work with Brewmaster to design, schedule, and post information regarding new beer releases to the general public.
  • Create and monitor KPIs to track performance of social media and email campaigns and use this information to better inform content and timing.

Qualifications

  • Two years’ experience in hospitality, marketing, event planning, or a related field preferably with experience managing people.
  • Strong attention to detail with exceptional communication and organization skills.
  • 19 years of age or older with ability to pass Nunavut Server Training test.
  • Strong sense of initiative with a drive to improve processes and find efficiencies.
  • Able to work and communicate as part of a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 products including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe creative suite preferred.
  • Bilingual - English/Inuktitut or English/French considered an asset.
  • Experience in the craft beverage industry a plus.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $55,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
