Description

Join our team

The TELUS Tax team provides critical expertise, consultation and counsel to the various entities and business groups, domestic and international, within TELUS. As trusted advisors, we help support complex business transactions with insights and recommendations that influence decisions made by stakeholder and senior leaders. We are practical and creative, providing innovative solutions in our quest to be the leading in-house Taxation team globally. Our team takes pride in driving operational excellence, best practices, and optimum results which contribute to business growth and exceptional customer and team member experiences.

Here's the impact you'll make and what we'll accomplish together

As a Taxation Analyst and member of the dynamic and growing Tax team you will be responsible to actively and efficiently resolve a broad range of complex audit and appeal issues involving both federal and provincial Canadian tax authorities. You will work closely with the Senior Manager for audits and appeals to leverage your business acumen, pro-active leadership and knowledge of indirect taxation to provide thoughtful and practical solutions across all of TELUS' lines of business.

As a strong team player and communicator you will be comfortable in taking the lead to proactively assist other teams to learn from and make positive changes based on our audit experiences. You will be enthusiastic in providing training to other teams and in actively supporting them to develop new systems and processes to minimize future audit exposures. As a driver of change you will be comfortable in negotiating with various stakeholders and then to subsequently ensure that accountabilities are met.

As a highly organized and adaptable professional, you will be comfortable in managing competing priorities and working closely with your Tax and non-Tax colleagues to ensure that deadlines and other expectations are met. As a flexible performer, you will show your skills, as required, in transitioning from detail oriented work to a broader "bigger picture" approach. You will bring an aptitude for learning. You will be comfortable in shifting and re-allocating priorities in order to support evolving business and taxation needs.
In addition, and because we support each other as a team, you will have an opportunity, from time to time, to support the broader TELUS Tax team on US indirect tax matters.

Here's how

  • Assist in managing TELUS' tax risk while complying with our Tax Strategy EN Tax Strategy FR
  • Build relationships with external tax authorities, external business advisors and internal business stakeholders to fully understand the leading priorities and challenges
  • Leverage your already thorough understanding of Canadian indirect tax legislation, jurisprudence and policies which impact on our business in order to creatively optimize audit and appeal outcomes
  • Build a solid understanding of existing compliance systems and processes (including control processes) and actively assist other stakeholders to adapt and evolve those systems and processes to drive improved outcomes
  • Work closely with the Tax team and other TELUS teams to establish relationship of reliability, helpfulness and trust
  • Be comfortable in negotiating with other stakeholders to bring about positive change
  • Openly embrace opportunities to learn new skills including new systems (e.g., ERPs and billing systems) and other technologies
