Job description

Team Lead Support Worker

Team Leads are front-line/on-shift supervisors that support clients to develop life skills, create and attain goals, social skills and/or access to community resources. Team Leads provide on-shift support and coaching to Support Workers and will take on additional tasks as delegated by the Case Manager to ensure that the individual's needs are met. All Support Workers provide individual care and guidance proven to be valuable for the needs of the client's mental health, behavioural, and environmental challenges. All Support Workers provide stability through predictable structure, clear expectations, and positive behaviour support. The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate skills in crisis intervention, conflict resolution, problem solving, an understanding of a harm reduction approach and a proficiency in written and verbal communication skills.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist Manager in assessment and implementation of goal setting and program planning.
  • Facilitates/implements short-term and long-term plans to meet such needs with the active participation of the individual and their personal networks (both professional and nonprofessional).
  • Provide on-shift coaching for Support Workers.
  • Provide support to individual(s) in care with regards to daily life skills, social skills and /or behaviour management.
  • Recognize, analyze, and deal with potential emergency situations in absence and/or in consultation with Case Manager.
  • Administer medication to individuals according to established policies and procedures.
  • Ensure health and safety standards are maintained.
  • Contribute to team effectiveness through clear and direct communication.
  • Assists Case Manager with daily managerial duties as delegated by Case Manager.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation with other Team Leads, After Hours On Call Supervisors and Case Manager.
  • Performs other related duties as required by Case Manager.

Qualifications:

  • Clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check (Required)
  • Clear Social Development Check (Required)
  • Minimum of at least 1 year experience working with youth/adults with exceptionalities and/or physical/behavioral support needs or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience (required).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Outlook, email and cloud-based systems (required).

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $22.00-$24.00 per hour
