This is an exciting time of change and evolution when it comes to delivering Data as a Service here at Eastlink. Reporting to the Manager of Data Architecture and focusing on Eastlink’s core data and information stack, you will play an essential role in the modernization and democratization of data within Eastlink, developing the solutions and providing support to the Business to successfully enable this transformation. Eastlink will challenge you in actively developing our Snowflake cloud environment while collaborating within our larger BI and Data Science team on the implementation of best-practice architecture, process, and delivery of data to the business.
With experience in database architecture and language, data migration between disparate systems, scripting (language agnostic) and the most current cloud data strategies, you will be key to powering Eastlink’s data architecture toward the future. As the ideal candidate, you have 5-10 years’ experience in database development/tuning/security, 2-5 years developing code for automation and 5 years’ experience in data warehouse architecture. Harnessing this experience, our team will be responsible to support the design decisions for expanding our Snowflake data warehouse footprint, building our strategic and tactical roadmap while introducing and adhering to data architectural best practice. You are experienced in ELT/ETL, data processing, curation and storage; you understand protecting the privacy of our data is tantamount to success; you are a champion of our vision, a collaborator and natural problem solver.

Responsibilities:
- Research, Design, Build and Promote solutions related to the expansion of our Snowflake data warehouse, to ensure the corporate data warehouse has a consistent, effective and scalable processing model. This includes:
- Connection management
- ELT development
- Security and administration
- Consistent source control
- Collaboration with internal and external customers and partners to meet data and corporate goals.
- Develop, mentor and educate the Business Intelligence and Data Science team on the Eastlink BI processing model to ensure the entire team is sharing a common framework
- Develop and drive adherence to data governance best practice
- Champions data driven decision making within the Business and promote data maturity with key stakeholders.
- At least 5 years’ experience in data warehouse architecture and delivery.
- Strong abilities in database design and language (SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
- Core programming and scripting skills in multiple languages (Powershell, Python, Java, HTML).
- Extensive experience with ELT/ETL tools, data processing, curation and storage.
- Experience with architecture design and solution delivery in a cloud environment.
- Significant experience with modern BI toolsets (Tableau, Power BI, Thoughtspot, etc.).
- Experience implementing Agile principles and practices is an asset.
- Monitor industry and technical trends to ensure Eastlink is using appropriate and effective tools for our corporate data warehouse processing model.
