Job Summary
We are presently recruiting for a R&D & Projects Manager who will be responsible to ensures that all product development activities are conducted efficiently and within company guidelines and timeframes.
You will manage all aspects of a project from concept through implementation as per Distech’s Product Development Process (PDP), leading all activities related to new Product or Software Releases while also coordinating OEM project activities. You will monitor the activities and phase deliverables of all departments involved, and evaluate and recommend contingency plans to ensure projects delivery within the established timeframes.
On a daily basis, you will work closely with the VP Building Automation Technology and his team. You will also be required to interact with the Marketing and Production departments and work occasionally with the Technical Support and Sales teams. 
You will carry out other related tasks upon request.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Product development and improvement and OEM projects
•    Contributes to the preliminary business case of every project by elaborating project planning: defines timeline, phase deliverables, tracks milestones, schedules roles and assign resources in collaboration with the directors involved
•    Coordinates the execution of the projects with each department
•    Monitors that every project respects project timelines according to the PDP including milestones and deliverables
•    Updates project planning according to project movement and communicates changes
•    Monitors and controls the PDP Gate Stage process in all phases of a project
•    Calls project meetings and establishes priorities to optimize operations and ensure successful projects execution
•    Ensures that information associated with projects in development is kept secure and confidential
•    Coordinates project’s post-mortem with the teams involved
•    Suggests ways to improve the processes he is responsible for
Management
•    Active participation at several of the company’s operation committees
•    Communicates project advancement to Upper Management
•    Gives necessary recommendations to minimize the impacts of unplanned changes and interrupts on key projects 
•    Supports activities related to quality improvement within the company
•    Measures and provides performance indicators for activities under his supervision.
•    Maintains and updates project management tools
Skills and Minimum Experience Required
Essential
•    Bachelor Degree in Engineering (mechanical or electrical) with a specialization in management or equivalent experience.
•    5 years of experience in project management and/or product development
•    Bilingual, excellent spoken and written English and French
•    Good judgement, strong sense of urgency
•    Developed analysis and synthesis skills
•    Very organized and methodical person
•    Team spirit and excellent interpersonal relations
•    Good sense of autonomy and initiative 
•    Strong leadership, charismatic authority
•    Good communicator and motivator
•    Able to get participants involved and motivated in carrying out projects and attaining goals
Important
•    Working knowledge of project management software tools
Assets
•    Knowledge of the VSTS online software
•    Masters degree or certificate in project management
•    Knowledge of the industry’s best practices in product development
•    Familiar with the automation and control industry
•    PMP certification
