OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced mechanical engineer to join our Sales Engineering and customer success team full time, to contribute to the sales of our energy optimization solution for commercial buildings including chilled water plants. You will be part of a high-performing team of multi-disciplinary experts representing and promoting SHIFT energy s optimal control solutions to prospective customers

WHAT YOU LL BE DOING IN THE ROLE:

  • Make a real difference in the fight against climate change
  • Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer requirements, promote the sale of SHIFT energy s solutions, and provide sales support
  • Confer with customers and engineers to assess equipment needs and to determine system requirements
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations that explain the SHIFT software solution to prospective customers and partners
  • Provide technical support and services to customers and technology partners regarding the use and operation of the solution
  • Assess customer buildings to identify & recommend energy optimization strategies for large-scale commercial buildings including venues, hospitals, office towers, campuses etc. This includes collecting and analyzing technical documentation such as control drawings, mechanical drawings, and determining building schedules and any operational challenges/constraints and performing site visits to analyze chilled water plant and HVAC equipment
  • Present and interact with customer operations team and energy managers
  • Experience with M&V energy savings plans, analyzing performance results and reporting/explaining performance to customer sustainability managers
  • Ability to train building operators on the SHIFT solution and respond to customer questions/concerns
  • Collaborate with customer partners including MSIs, consultants, engineering firms, control systems firms and other vendors/suppliers
  • Provide customer feedback and operations expertise internally to the product development team
  • Contribute to product vision and roadmap
  • Act as a resource to management and staff regarding chilled water plant and HVAC technology.

WHAT SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS YOU LL NEED TO DO THE JOB:

  • University degree in either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and Professional Engineer Designation with minimum 5 years experience in the energy management, with a thorough background in utility markets, building optimization/controls, and building systems.
  • Experience with the operations of chilled water plants
  • Experience with the operations of HVAC systems
  • Experience in conducting Measurement and Verification per IPMVP an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to work with people across multi-disciplines to ensure program adoption and implementation.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Detail-oriented, professional and approachable.
  • Proficiency in report writing and in using MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access).
  • Knowledge of energy analytics.
  • Strong background in building operations and optimization.
  • Development of building conservation and demand management plans.
  • Conducting building energy assessment and energy efficiency measures
  • Strong written, oral, and presentation skills.

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

  • CEM
  • CMVP
