The City is seeking two temporary Maintenance Persons to work varying shifts with the Facilities Division of the Planning, Development & Recreation department from May 1st to October 31st, 2023. This position will report to Optimist Park and include a variety of repair and maintenance tasks at City Facilities.

Responsibilities of the role include:
Provide first rate customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
Solve problems in a positive and collaborative fashion.
Focus on continuous improvement.
Repair and patch concrete.
Drywall, wood and concrete surface preparation and painting.
Minor carpentry and repairs.
Basic plumbing.
Pressure washing, graffiti removal, and custodial tasks.
Install siding, shingle roofing, flashings, soffit, eavestroughs etc.
Moving furniture and appliances.
Other duties as required.

Required qualifications and experience:
Unrestricted G level Ontario Driver’s License.
Grade 12 education or equivalent.
Knowledge and experience in trades associated with facility maintenance and light renovations including:
Concrete repair and patching.
Drywall surface preparation and painting.
Finish Carpentry.
Skilled with hand and power tools.
Willing and able to perform work at heights.

The following qualifications would be considered an asset, but are not mandatory:

Experience in floor maintenance.
Framing.
Adjustment of doors and door hardware.
Installation of doors and windows
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.

Hours of work will be adjusted as required. Main hours are 7am-3pm Monday to Friday. Work will also include varying shifts that include evening, nights, and weekends.

The City offers a competitive hourly rate of $24.80
