- Actively participate in and operate within the terminal Safety Program in compliance with Lafarge Canada Inc’s and mandatory safety and environmental policies
- Unload bulk railcars and load bulk semi-trucks
- Operation and daily maintenance of rail unloading and bulk truck loading equipment
- Operate a forklift to load and unload packaged cement
- General labour related duties and cleanup
- Supervise and direct contractors on site, when required
- Supervision and direction of truck/railway carriers’ activities on site
- Participate in shared inventory control
- Terminal Housekeeping
- Other associated duties that the employee is trained in-house or by requirement for
- Ability to work overtime and willing to work shift work if required.
- High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent with postsecondary/trade school completion or classes an asset
- High school diploma or equivalent with postsecondary/trade school completion/classes an asset
- 5+ years of experience in an industrial setting is preferred
- Demonstrates commitment to safety for oneself and others
- Mechanical aptitude and understanding a key attribute
- Time and self-management skills as part of a team or independently
- Physically fit to encompass labor requirements of role
- Demonstrate strong skills in problem solving, decision making and multi-tasking
- Good verbal and written communication
- Computer literacy/ability: including Excel, Word programs a benefit
- Valid class 5 driver’s license
- Understanding of building materials industry, including cement product knowledge an asset
