The Role
The Timekeeper is responsible for the meticulous tracking and recording of employee work hours and scheduling to ensuring accurate payroll processing and compliance with labor laws.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Review timesheets in PayWorks to ensure the employees time is accurately recorded and complete for payroll processing
- Ensure breaks, overtime and statutory holidays are recorded accurately
- Work with employees/managers to resolve errors such as missing punches and department, location or activity corrections
- Maintain rotational shift work schedules in Excel
- Coordinate with department managers to verify employee attendance, absences, and time off requests, ensuring compliance with company policies
- Maintain and update timekeeping systems and databases with employee information, including shift swaps, schedule changes, and leave balances
- Assign employees to the correct department/location/activity on electronic timesheets
- Prepare and distribute detailed reports on employee hours worked, absenteeism, tardiness, and other time-related metrics for management and HR review
- Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or issues related to timekeeping/scheduling
- Assist with training for employees on timekeeping procedures and systems
- Maintain confidentiality of employee information
- Other duties as assigned
Skills, Education, & Knowledge
- Proven experience as a Timekeeper or in a similar role
- Experience in a fast-paced working-class environment
- Understanding of rotational shift work
- Familiar with Alberta Employment Standards
- Strong data collection and analysis skills
- Familiarity with payroll processes and regulations
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically intermediate to advanced experience in Excel
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: $27.00-$30.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
