Job Overview

Based in the Elliot Lake operations, the Quality Control Inspector is responsible for performing inspections, checks, tests and completing applicable documentation for internally fabricated products, parts and components used in the manufacture of hard rock mining consumables, equipment and parts, in-process or finished to ensure products are being produced in accordance with company quality standards and customer requirements.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints and instructions to comprehend the quality expectations for incoming products and supplies.
  • Perform inspection and completion of applicable documentation of fabricated and machined parts, components, subassemblies or finished company products to ensure adherence to specifications, and ensure products are being produced in accordance with company quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Understand and follow quality standards and processes and communicate inspection results to appropriate people. Complete appropriate documentation as required.
  • Monitor and maintain critical equipment and instrumentation to ensure proper operation and calibration.
  • Maintain all controlled document files and test records in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist in the writing and updating inspection procedures, protocol and checklists.
  • Evaluate problems and make initial recommendations for possible corrective action to supervisors.
  • Coordinate calibration of all test equipment and validation of fixtures as needed.
  • Perform inspection of selected sample incoming vendor raw material, fabricated/machined or purchased parts, components, subassemblies to ensure adherence to specifications

Qualifications/Requirements

  • College Diploma in Machining or Tool & Die, Welder/Fitter or equivalent experience.
  • 1-3 years experience
  • Knowledge of calibration tools within production facility.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
  • Accuracy and high attention to detail.
  • Documentation and filing capabilities.
  • Good computer skills for documentation and communication purposes.
  • Ability to read blueprints, drawings, schematics.
  • Good communication skills to work with multi-dimensional team.
