We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tooling Warehouse Specialist to join our dynamic team. This position involves managing the tooling inventory, ensuring the availability of tools, safety equipment, chemicals etc. for the field, and preparing them for various jobs. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining an organized and efficient warehouse system, as well as contributing to the overall productivity of our shop operations.
Responsibilities:
Tool / Supplies Management: Maintain accurate records of all tools and equipment in the tool units.
Monitor inventory levels and reorder supplies as needed to prevent shortages.
Implement and enforce a systematic tool check-in and check-out procedure.
Tool and Safety Inspection and Maintenance: Inspect tooling for damage or wear and perform routine maintenance as required.
Keep tools in optimal condition by coordinating external vendors for repairs
Job Preparation: Collaborate with supervisors and management to understand upcoming job requirements.
Prepare tooling for specific jobs, ensuring all necessary tools are available and in good condition.
Organization and Cleanliness: Maintain a clean and organized shop to facilitate quick and efficient access to tools.
Implement a system for easy identification of tools and equipment.
Collaboration with Suppliers: Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers to stay informed about new products and industry trends.
Negotiate pricing and delivery terms to optimize cost-effectiveness.
Training and Documentation: Update documentation related to tooling, safety gear, chemical and warehouse procedures and guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a tooling coordinator, Tool Crib operator or in a similar role within a manufacturing or machining environment.
- Strong knowledge of various tools and equipment used in industrial settings.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and basic computer skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with team members.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education or certifications are a plus.
- Previous experience in a Tool Crib or shop environment is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move heavy tools and equipment.
- Comfortable standing for extended periods.
