Primary Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Organize priorities and assign activities in the tooling area personnel
- Grow and develop working relationships with local tool shop suppliers.
- Establish maintenance routines for dies and other equipment to ensure a smooth flow of support to production areas
- Responsible for carrying out the maintenance plan and tool improvement plan.
- Responsible for maintaining tooling and for establishing follow-up programs for all the information related to improvements and the reduction of overtime, scrap and down times.
- Responsible to oversee tooling operations through various activities, including but not limited to, co-ordination of maintenance scheduling (set ups, installations, repairs, upgrades, and general maintaining of all plant / building equipment, machinery, and grounds)
- Responsible to maintain and ensure effectiveness of Stock Room and requirements by liaising with Stock Room Attendant
- Responsible to create or participate in the creation of systems / documentation requirements to ensure compliance to ISO/TS16949, ISO14001
- Provide opportunities for learning and development to team members
- Resolution or elevation of issues / problems for resolution where resolution cannot be achieved at team member level
- Complete work assignments with accuracy, sense of urgency, and in a safe manner in accordance with established standards, and all applicable Regulations / Legislation
- Create, update, and maintain a training matrix
- Promote the company’s operational visions, values, and goals
- Conduct all work activities in a manner that is supportive of team effort
- Participation in training or other team activities to support ongoing continuous improvement
- Adherence to all rules and regulations as may be amended from time to time
- Participate and ensure all personnel adhere to the company’s health, safety, environmental, and operational programs
- Responsible for shift and vacation coverage as needed or coordinating overtime to cover personnel absences
- Shipping and receiving of tools and components (handling documentation for this)
Your Qualifications
- Tool and Die Maker or Mold Maker certificate of apprenticeship, Bachelors Degree in Engineering or College Engineering Technologist Diploma
- Minimum 3 years experience in a people leader position
- Able to manage projects in an automotive manufacturing environment
- Must possess knowledge of tool and die design, tryout and production, die casting and related machinery
- Proficient in use of AutoCAD, Microsoft Office application
- Multi-tasking, fast paced environment
- Strong organizational and time managements skills
- Effective interpersonal / communication skills required
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to effectively manage conflict, foster good team and inter-department relations
- Awareness and adherence to ISO, IATF and customer specific requirements
Working Conditions
- Work may require extended periods of sitting, standing, lifting, bending and stooping
- Excellent manual dexterity, ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Flex shift hours may be required to support role responsibilities over 3 shift operation
- Work environment office and shop floor
- Usage of a computer and other office machinery
- Wear personal protective equipment as prescribed
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00-$120,000.00 per year
