The opportunity
As part of our Total Rewards team, this Specialist is an operational expert providing support across the function focusing on administering, coordinating, and optimizing Total Rewards programs and practices. In alignment with CWB’s organizational values and strategic direction, the successful incumbent will help to drive a compelling employee value proposition that is foundational for the attraction, development, and retention of best-in-class talent. Areas of focus
Compensation Philosophy, Programs and Practices
  • Ownership for employee inquiries about CWB compensation philosophy, plans, and incentives programs.
  • Support for the implementation of innovative and effective compensation and incentive policies, procedures, practices, and programs ensuring all service level agreements and deadlines are met in accordance with department policies and procedures.
  • Support and conduct annual review of compensation adjustments, pay-for-performance systems, premium compensation programs, and short and long-term incentive & equity plans.
  • Maintain awareness of legislative, regulatory and policy initiatives that impact total reward practices and programs within both federal and provincial regulated environments.
Job Architecture & Evaluation
  • Support the job evaluation process to ensure consistency and alignment of all positions within CWB’s job grade structure.
  • Monitor, prepare and assign job evaluation requests and submissions for the job evaluation team.
  • Complete audits of Job Architecture, active job descriptions and profiles for data integrity and reporting.
Market Analysis and Compensation Surveys
  • Research and participate in market surveys, including the creation and coordination of compensation and benefits surveys to external organizations, and prepare compensation and benefits survey summaries and conduct market analysis as required.
  • Assist with the collection and analysis of market research and industry best practices to support the design of a competitive Total Rewards system that enables the business to attract, reward and retain top talent and that meets governance best practices.
  • Performs continuous research about changing and emerging trends, issues, and best practices.
Successful incumbent
Professional Knowledge
  • An undergraduate degree specializing in Human Resources or equivalent experience.
  • CCP® or GRP Certification is an asset.
  • Knowledge and implementation experience in compensation structuring practices, incentive plan design and pay equity.
  • Knowledge and experience in using organization development, design and change management tools to create observable business outcomes.
Professional Experience
  • Up to 5 years HR generalist &/or specialist experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience at an operational level in compensation is an asset.
  • Experience of working in the financial sector would be an asset.
  • Technically advanced in the application of MS Office, especially Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

  • Strong analytical skills, ability to analyse detail and provide succinct recommendations.
  • High degree of organizational skills and an ability to multi-task and shift priorities with strong execution.
  • Adept at identifying opportunities for process improvements to increase efficiencies and optimize resources.
  • Curious and collaborative approach and working style with motivation and energy around making a difference and having an impact.
  • Strong interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills with the ability to build effective relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization.
