Scope
As the Trades Improver 2 (EOCP) in the Wastewater and Construction Operations section, your responsibilities will include skilled manual tasks involving considerable physical effort in the performance of a variety of construction and maintenance activities related to various municipal utility infrastructure; water, sanitary sewer, and drainage systems.
Responsibilities

• Installing mains, service connections and related components associated to water, sanitary, and drainage systems. • Assembling pipes and ensuring that tees, bends, crosses, valves and related fittings are properly installed. • Installing water services using open trench, trenchless methods or combination of both. • Operating (open/close/flush/repair) water valves on water mains, service connections and appurtenances. • Constructing, placing, setting forms and finishing associated to concrete blocks, headwalls, manholes, retaining walls, sidewalk panels, pavers, pavement, curb, gutters and related concrete structures. • Measuring, cutting and setting forms and establishing lines and grades. • Ordering supplies and materials as needed. • Assisting crew members in performing their duties. • Using a variety of hand and power tools. • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Completed Grade 12 or equivalent. • Experience and training in civil and utility construction and engineering operations and maintenance. • Valid BC Driver's license with safe driving record. • Water Distribution EOCP Level 1 certification in good standing.
