NAVANA Labs Hinton has an immediate need for a casual Sampling Technician to collect coal samples for train loading. This Sampling Technician will be on-call and be scheduled on a four-on and four-off. Once dispatched, the Sampling Technician shall report for duty within 60 minutes of the train’s expected loading time.
The successful candidate may also be trained to work in sample preparation.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Collect samples in the field using automated collection equipment and manual sampling equipment;
- Fill out sample Chains of Custody, recording location, the weight of samples, etc.;
- Operate a Company Vehicle to transport samples from sampling locations to the laboratory;
- Assist Laboratory Technicians in sample preparation;
- Follow all company policies and procedures to ensure sample integrity and quality control;
- Recognize and report any sample issues; and
- Additional tasks may be assigned by Management or Supervisors in accordance with operational processes.
Qualifications
- A High School diploma is required;
- Valid and Unrestricted Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s record;
- 1+ years of working experience in an Industry setting is preferred;
- Experience working on-call and have the ability to be flexible to the on-call schedule;
- Willing to meet short-notice shift obligations as needed;
- Capable of prioritizing tasks to meet goals and ensure product quality;
- Ability to communicate effectively; and
- Physical strength to lift 50 lbs.
