Your challenge!
This is a succession role with the opportunity to learn from two managerial positions; the Regional Transportation Manager and the Regional Dispatch Manager. Reporting to the Director of Transportation, the Regional Manager's mission is to support the implementation of his or her business unit's operational strategy by managing the company's transportation and targeting action priorities to improve service performance. You manage the financial, human and material resources required for the Transportation department and maintain a partnership with customers and teams from other functions of the business while embracing the company’s core values. Finally, you support the operational process improvement initiatives raised by your team in order to ensure the value-added service offered to suppliers and customers as well as the safety of staff members.
Individual responsibilities
-Maintain records of absenteeism and or tardiness of all department staff.
-Conduct performance reviews annum for all full-time employees
-Provide a complete onboarding process as per Cascades standards for all positions within Transportation
-Responsible to ensure that all shifts in the Transportation department are covered accordingly.
-Ensure all vacations are scheduled and recorded as per company policy
-Coordinate route audits with Driver Supervisors
-Attend the JHSC for Transportation as required
-Support all aspects of the business by communicating with regional leads (Operations, Health & Safety, HR, Sourcing, Finance, Maintenance)
-Responsible for implementing and monitoring KPI’s within the department
-Responsible for participating in the annual budgetary process
-Review monthly financials to ensure budgets are met and exceeded with Transportation
-Participate in the annual CAPEX process
-Manage and oversee costs related to Transportation in Western Canada
-Responsible for all accidents/incidents investigations and reports
-Lead by example and create a positive culture within the company
Experiences and strengths
-3-5 years’ experience in a Managerial position
-Previous experience in the recycling, waste or related industry is an asset
-Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures
-Proven success in development and implementation of improvements in transportation activities for cost savings, productivity improvements and/or growth
-Advanced knowledge of transport and dispatching operations
-Previous experience working within Transportation is an asset
-Route optimization/re-routing experience is an asset
