Tree Planting Crew Leader

Scott and Stewart Forestry Consultants is one of Nova Scotia's largest reforestation contractors. Our tree planters are the core to our company and a vital part of our approach to sustainable forest management.

We are looking for a Tree Planting Crew Leader to join our team and lead a group of motivated planters this Spring. Our Spring season starts April 29th, 2024 and runs for 8-12 weeks. Post season, planters and Crew Leaders will have the opportunity to join other operations (if interested.

We are looking for a self-motivated professional with a strong work ethic. Crew Leaders must be effective communicators, and comfortable managing and coaching a group of 5-10 planters.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise a crew of 5-10 Tree Planters
• Drive and maintain company vehicle
• Ensure seedlings are planted to client specifications
• Handling seedlings for planting on worksites
• Coach tree planters to meet production requirements, and foster a positive work environment

Qualifications:

• Class 5 Drivers License
• Self-motivated, and strong work ethic
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
• Able to manage a team of motivated individuals

Assets:

• Prior Tree Planting experience
• Prior management experience
• Familiarity navigating using Avenza Maps (or other mapping software)
• Experience operating ATV's
• First Aid

• Pre Commercial Thinning Operation
• Vegetation Management Work
• Fall Tree Planting (8-10 Weeks)

May be eligible for Co-op placement depending on area of study, and educational institution.
