Job Description

Title: Trenton ReStore Manager

Reports to: General Manager Retail Operations

Position Summary:

The Trenton ReStore Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Trenton ReStore and ensures the Trenton ReStore is fully supportive of the affiliate’s vision and goals and acts as a fundraising activity that compliments the affiliates fundraising and building activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads a consistent focus on delivering a great Trenton ReStore experience.
  • Analyze the business to create and communicate clear actions plans that optimize results and ensure effective execution of all operational activities.
  • Works on a daily basis to ensure retail sales are maximized through a variety of means.
  • Ensures every worker (paid or unpaid) provides a superior customer experience to all customers.
  • Ensures inventory flow from intake through to purchase.
  • Works to provide best merchandising layout in order to maximize sales and ensure the safety and a great customer, staff, and volunteer experience.
  • Responsible for ensuring all product is priced appropriately and that all associates are following pricing procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining and communicating all intake guidelines and procedures for all associates.
  • Ensures all materials and product donated are of resale quality.
  • Ensures all associates (staff and volunteers) have completed require safety training during onboarding.
  • Responsible for all staff, volunteers and customers adhering to our safety policies.
  • Maintains and makes improvements to the physical backroom to improve operations, following yearly maintenance schedule including such things as fire extinguishers, fire alarms, etc.
  • Responsible for the wellbeing and safety of all staff, volunteers and shoppers and ensures appropriate steps are followed when safety concerns arise.
  • Ensures compliance with all financial reporting practices including the reconciling of daily sales, the daily closing out of all financial transactions, daily bank deposits, and preparation of all invoices for payment.
  • Establishes the value of all gift-in-kind donations ensuring compliance with existing policies and Canadian Revenue Agency regulations.

Human Resources

  • Trains, orients, schedules, and supervises all ReStore staff and volunteers.
  • Conducts all yearly and 3-month Trenton ReStore staff performance and compensation reviews, subject to prior approval by General Manager Retail Operations - PEH.
  • Responsible for managing all volunteers in the Trenton ReStore, recognizing the critical role for volunteers and takes positive steps to develop and nurture these volunteers.
  • Ensures all volunteers receive interviews before starting in the ReStore and have scheduled feedback sessions.
  • Ensures effective communication between staff, volunteers, and management including conducting daily briefings.
  • Attract, hire, develop, inspire, and retain top talent.
  • Manages human resources responsibilities in collaboration with General Manager Retail Operations when needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong people skills with focus on collaborative work style
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including effective networking and listening skills
  • Ability to work independently and with supervision
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, administrative, and time management skills
  • Awareness of safe work practices, first aid certification
  • Excellent communications (verbal/written) and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to create and maintain good working relationships with a variety of internal and external constituents
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft Office Suite of Products
  • Ability to multi-task and set priorities with a sense of urgency to achieve goals
  • Possess a vehicle and valid driver’s license or mobility equivalent to possessing a vehicle and a valid driver’s license.

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience, specifically relevant administrative, customer service, fundraising or donor relations
  • Retail experience an asset

Education:

  • Graduate from a recognized university or college in a related program, or relevant professional experience

Other:

  • Clear Criminal Background Check required
