B2Gold is a low-cost international senior gold producer headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. Founded in 2007, today, B2Gold has three operating gold mines and numerous development and exploration projects in various countries including Canada, Mali, the Philippines, Namibia, Columbia, Finland, and Uzbekistan. This year, B2Gold forecasts gold production to be 1,000,000- 1,080,000 ounces.


Position


Underground Mining Equipment Trainer, Nunavut

Location and Reporting Structure

Reporting to the Manager, Health & Safety, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.


Responsibilities

  • Design and update UG equipment training programs for new hires, existing employees, and contractors, including safety procedures and equipment operation;
  • Create comprehensive training materials, including manuals, presentations, and hands-on exercises tailored to the specific equipment used in UG mining, such as drills, loaders, haul trucks, and bolters;
  • Deliver training sessions to equipment operators, both new hires and experienced personnel, covering topics such as equipment operation, maintenance procedures, safety protocols, and emergency response;
  • Utilize a variety of training methods, including classroom instruction, demonstrations, simulations, and on-the-job practical application, to ensure effective learning outcomes;
  • Ensure that all operators of UG equipment are competent and qualified to do so safely;
  • Assess the effectiveness of training programs through evaluations and feedback from trainees. Make necessary adjustments to continually improve training content and delivery;
  • Maintain accurate records of training sessions, participant progress, and certifications. Prepare reports as necessary; and
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and training enhancement and collaborate with management to implement necessary changes.

Desired Competencies and Requirements

  • Five (5) years’ experience in the operation UG equipment in hard rock mining, with a minimum of two (2) years training employees;
  • A Certificate of Qualification (CoQ) as a Heavy Equipment Operator, or equivalent; and
  • Certification as a Trainer or relevant teaching certifications (e.g., MSHA certification) is an asset.

Compensation and Benefits

For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $115,752.00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $42.00 and overtime rate of $63) in a work year.
