What is the opportunity?
This position is responsible for assisting in the underwriting process by collecting and verifying client documentation, along with completing additional policy related tasks. The incumbent would be in a full production environment. Strategic priorities encompassed within the role include providing high quality of document and process accuracy, as well as risk mitigation practices and procedures.
What will you do?
- Review underwriting related client files such as questionnaires, medical results, financials and applications to match with existing policies
- Mitigate risk by ensuring client privacy is maintained by aligning correct documentation and naming conventions to the correct policy and client
- An eye for divergences in process that need to be addressed and/or corrected
- Request and process underwriting related tasks such as Attending Physician Statements, Medical Information Bureau inquiries, receiving and sharing medical evidence with other insurers
- Ability to change and adapt as portfolio of products change
- Maintain quality of the defined processes as determined through audits
- Track and maintain inventory of completed work and decisions
- Build and maintain relationships with partners within New Business Operations team
What will you need to succeed?
- Insurance industry experience would be considered an asset but not required
- Documented experience and ability to follow outlined processes and procedures
- Experience in working within a varying array of applications (ie. standard business applications such as Microsoft Office, and experience using proprietary processing software)
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proven ability of high value output while meeting key performance metrics: Productivity, Quality and TAT (turn-around-time)
- A team player, contributing not only to achieve personal goals but also those of the team and department
- Innovation and Initiative - looking for ways to develop and promote improvements
Special Conditions
This is a remote position and the successful candidate will have the ability to work out of any province. Please note this is a 12 month contract position.
