Main responsibilities:
Assignment of work:
- Distribute units requiring repairs to mechanics based on established priorities.
- Schedule management: Supervise and manage preventive maintenance (PEP), upkeep and SAAQ inspection schedules.
- Coordination of internal repairs: Plan and organize appointments for internal repairs of trucks and chassis, ensuring effective coordination with Zac-Tranz dispatchers.
- Monitoring of work: Ensure monitoring of work in progress in the garage and outside, while ensuring that deadlines and priorities are respected.
- Parts and Supplier Management: Manage parts inventory, create purchase orders and/or work orders, resolve parts and supplier issues.
- Operational Support: Provide support to transportation operations during and after hours, answering questions and resolving issues.
- Service call management: Respond to service calls, address problems and minimize complaints by ensuring garage operations run smoothly.
- Safety and compliance: Ensure the proper functioning of procedures, the safety of units and compliance with standards.
- Team Coordination: Assist the maintenance team in other tasks for different divisions, promoting effective collaboration.
- Documentation and administrative monitoring: Manage the monitoring of emails, MIRs, toros, and other systems. Close work orders and perform all related administrative tasks.
- Cleanliness and organization: Ensure the garage is clean, tools are stored, and all procedures are followed.
- Other related tasks: Perform all other assigned tasks related to the maintenance and upkeep of equipment.
Qualifications required:
- Degree in automotive mechanics, mechanical engineering or related field.
- Significant experience in managing the maintenance of vehicle and equipment fleets.
- Excellent organizational, communication and time management skills.
- Good knowledge of safety and compliance regulations.
- Leadership and team management skills.
