About the Role:

We are looking for a UX Designer with specific education and work experience to put forward for an upcoming RFP.

You’ll be part of the Button team while also working directly alongside the client’s multidisciplinary team to envision a fresh approach to a valuable but outdated public-facing web application. Your work will have a direct impact on the world in which we live!

As you provide usability feedback and design services, you can leverage your previous experience or gain subject matter expertise related to educational curriculum development and delivery.

This is a multi-year contract, and Button is excited to offer this role as a full-time employment position! You’ll be entitled to all of the perks of working with Button.

The role is remote. However, the client is based in Edmonton, and in-person attendance on the client site is required from time to time.

About You:

Our client requires 3-5 years of UX Design experience specific to web-based applications mirroring the job responsibilities listed below. Experience with CSS/HTML is an asset.

Please include a website, portfolio or other method to show your work.

Your experience will be complemented by one of the client’s educational requirements of either:

• University degree or two-year diploma in Computer Science, UX Design, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Web Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) or a related discipline + 2 years of UX design experience.

• One-year certificate in Computer Science, UX Design, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Web Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) or a related discipline + 4 years of UX design experience

Although not a requirement, we highly encourage those with experience consulting or working on public sector projects or products to apply.

Job Responsibilities Include:

• Working as part of an agile software development team to create wireframes, mockups, and high-fidelity user interface designs based on the user research findings and requirements.
• Building interactive prototypes to allow stakeholders and the development team to experience and review application functionality and user flows.
• Conducting user research through interviews and surveys to gather insights into the needs and pain points of the target users.
• Conducting usability testing to validate design decisions and ensure application usability and effectiveness.
• Collaborate with project team members to provide, produce, and evaluate graphic products, including wireframes, mockups, visual personas, swim lanes, scenarios, and graphical user interfaces.
• Design review software features prior to going into production.
• Support the production of various levels of prototypes to aid the design and usability testing process, including interactive Figma designs, HTML5 prototypes, and paper prototypes.
• Participate in design workshops.
• Offer advice and expert opinions to project teams and staff on user experience design on additional projects as requested.

The salary range depends on the applicant's skill set, ranging from $65,000 to $80,000 per year.
