Take the next step in your career at iA Financial Group and join our North American corporate team as Vice-President, Corporate Actuarial Services. In this role, you will guide the work of the multidisciplinary teams under your responsibility in order to consolidate and summarize complex financial information and communicate your findings effectively to the executive and other key partners in the organization. You will contribute to the development of the actuarial function’s strategy and to the evolution of the operational model for all of iA Financial Group. You will stand out for your inspirational leadership and your ability to mobilize and foster the development of members of your team. 

Key outcomes & responsabilities

As Vice-President, Corporate Actuarial Services, you will collaborate with members of senior management in order to ensure coordination, execution and optimization of the following activities for all of iA Financial Group’s operations:

  • Coordination, analysis and explanation of the actuarial financial elements in the financial statements and analysis of financial results, ensuring effective interactions with the various actors involved;
  • Evolution of the operational model in order to ensure the sustainability of the CFO's structure, in line with the reality and requirements of the industry;
  • Consolidation and explanation of experience studies, development of actuarial assumptions and their annual review;
  • Supervision and production of the appointed actuary report and related work;
  • Working closely with the mergers and acquisitions teams on the deliverables required by the actuarial team in order to support the organization’s growth plan;
  • Financial health analyses and other financial projections to support the company's strategic planning;
  • Ensuring that product design and underwriting, implementation of optimization strategies based on risk and profitability measures, and the implementation of reinsurance solutions are within the Company's risk appetite;
  • Ensuring that partners know about the multidisciplinary service offer and that they are satisfied with the financial and actuarial advisory services, in order to provide a high standard of support for their strategic objectives Participating in the executive finance management committee and contributing to its strategic planning and execution and participating in certain presentations to the Audit Committee and the Board of Directors;
  • Supervision of expert, multidisciplinary sector teams;
  • Mobilizing and helping team members to develop through opportunities created by the evolution of the function.

Technical knowledge, skills and ability required

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science;
  • FCIA designation;
  • Relevant experience in a strategic and cross-functional role (at least 15 years);
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and complex mandates;
  • Strong leadership and ability to motivate the various teams toward the identified vision;
  • Collaborative spirit and remarkable interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent business judgment;
  • Ability to inspire teams in a context of shifting paradigms;
  • Demonstrated ability to use resources as a critical lever in achieving business objectives;
  • Excellent English and French language skills, both oral and written, due to regular interaction with English and French speaking colleagues or internal and external partners across Canada and the United States;
  • Experience in the insurance and financial services industry;
  • Knowledge of the U.S. market (asset).
