Volunteer Liaison

Ruth and Naomi’s (RAN) is a Christian faith-based organization with a vision and commitment to see the lives of people experiencing homelessness, poverty, and struggling with addiction transformed by the love of God. To assist in this work, we are seeking part-time Volunteer Liaisons to work in our Pathways kitchen.

The Volunteer Liaison is responsible for facilitating a positive experience for those serving in our Pathways Kitchen. Our kitchen could not function without the generous support our community provides and we seeking an individual to greet volunteers, orient new individuals to our kitchen, and provide direction as needed for cooking and serving the meal. A core aspect of this role is acting as meal host, which involves giving a small devotional and prayer prior to the meal, unless there is a volunteer fulfilling the role, and overseeing the room as meals are distributed. Our ideal candidate has an active faith, strong desire for fellowship, and a heart for our mission.

Responsibilities

• Warmly greet volunteers as they arrive and provide a brief overview of the meal plan for those assisting with cooking
• Assist with meal preparation as needed
• Provide training and orientation for volunteers new to our kitchen
• Prepare and give a short devotional and prayer at the beginning of each meal
• Oversee food service, providing direction and assistance to those distributing the meals
• Engage with clients, facilitating a experience that is nourishing on multiple levels
• Prepare evening snack for distribution
• Support volunteer coordination as needed, with direction from the Community Engagement Coordinator
• Assist with kitchen clean up
• Other responsibilities as assigned.

Assets

• Kitchen experience required, but does not have to be in a commercial setting
• Strong leadership abilities and comfortable speaking publicly
• Strong communication skills

Shifts are 3 hours in length from 5:30-8:30 pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, & Friday.
